Our Prevention and Intervention Programs
Partnering Together to Make Real Change
Prevention and education programs are key to getting ahead of substance misuse and substance use disorder. We partner with organizations to get our programs in front of as many people as possible, with the aim of:
-Educating individuals about the dangers of opioids, including their addictive nature and potential overdose risks, to help prevent initial use.
-Teaching individuals healthy ways to manage stress, anxiety, and pain to reduce the likelihood of turning to drugs as a coping mechanism.
-Addressing misconceptions about drug use so people can make informed decisions and avoid harmful behaviors.
To learn more about scheduling one of our Prevention Team Members to come speak to your group of students or young people, please email Ashlie Harder at ashlie@cslancaster.org

Botvin LifeSkills Training (LST) is an evidence-based substance abuse and violence prevention program that is uniquely designed to be flexible and interactive. The program can be taught either on an intensive schedule (two to three times a week) until the program is complete, or on a more extended schedule (once a week until the program is complete). Both formats have proven to be effective. While one year of LST has been proven to achieve measurable positive effects, multi-year implementation is strongly recommended.
The LST program has been extensively tested and proven effective at reducing tobacco, alcohol, opioid, and illicit drug use by as much as 80%. Long-term follow-up studies also show that it produces prevention effects that are durable and long-lasting.
